Dr. Sabareesh.P.A has completed his Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) at the Centre for Studies in Science Policy, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The PhD was awarded for the thesis title “Traditional Knowledge and Western Philosophy: Exploring The Prospects For Knowledge Sharing Under World Intellectual Property Organization”.
His multidisciplinary academic research at the JNU included areas of traditional medicinal knowledge, intellectual property rights and Indian philosophy of science with related policy research papers and publications. He has earlier worked as a consultant with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA). Dr. Sabareesh has as a student activist in JNU contested for the position of General Secretary in the JNU Students Union Elections – 2019.
Dr Sabareesh’ s ancestral roots belong to Rajahmundry of the East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. He was born in Rajapalayam in Tamil Nadu and educated in Kerala and Karnataka. He can speak multiple languages.
He has authored the book ‘A Brief History of Science in India’ published by Garuda Books, Gurugram. The book was released at its launch ceremony by Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon. Union Minister for Science and Technology and and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office at the JNU Convention centre. Sabareesh has delivered lectures on history of science at the IIT Delhi, NIT Bhopal, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA Delhi), JNU, Jaipur Dialogues, India International Science Festival, Dehradun Literature Festival, Haldwani Literature Festival, Sangam Talks apart from presentations and discussion at various academic councils and colleges. Some of his lectures are available online in YouTube channels.
Sabareesh is currently a Pracharak with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at New Delhi.
